I am the one my ancestors prayed for

I was 7 when Granny Sue told me I was INTELLIGENT.

I had never heard the word before, but I liked the way it rolled off her tongue

“Trin·i·ty, you are in·tel·li·gent!”

Her tone robust. Her eyes wide. Her expression full of immense realization. I knew that this word meant something profound. At the time, the only reference I had was our Dell “Intel” big back computer, so I at least knew that I was as smart as our computer—maybe more!

Intel·li·gent (adj): The ability to learn and understand things or to deal with new or difficult situations.

Language speaks but word choice is power. I have always observed the power in people’s words. And having family members that breathed life into my existence was a blessing to my journey.

Granny Sue and I recently completed our Ancestry DNA test where I traced our lineage back SEVEN miraculous generations and was blessed with names I wouldn’t know otherwise.

I have worked with my ancestors all my life. Their presence surrounds me in meditation, deliberation, and celebration. My highest honor has been serving as a bridge to answer ancient questions and reveal family secrets to my living family members. I’ve seen weights lifted off their psyche and acceptance wash over them. I’ve felt our bloodline untangle from generational trauma as lessons have been learned and dreams have been achieved.

Their ancestral altar is adorned with imagery, herbs, dead ladybugs, and now, their names:

Callie and Charles Martin who were born into slavery and could not read or write.

Lucy and Toby Chislom who survived through jim crow.

Helen and Canada Maxwell who loved interracially during segregation.

To name something is to give it power.

And my book, Brown Girl Almighty, is all of their stories.

I once took a handful of magic mushrooms and my face morphed into an oil painting where each microscopic shift of light revealed a face that came before me. I now see this every time I look in the mirror. The compilation of faces that birthed my own remind me of the love that breathed me into existence.

I honor my ancestors by following my joy, saying their names, and building altars that remind me of the omnipotent source that we are all connected to (check out this video to learn how to build your Ancestral Altar).

I was 3 days into my 8-day ayahuasca journey at Rhythmia (watch the vlog HERE) when I had the most intense death&rebirth of my life. I sprawled out on the soft grass under the infinite night sky while Ashley, a beautiful Costa Rican woman, held me tightly, intentionally, and kept commenting on the surrender that she saw in my eyes

My ancestors presence was SO STRONG they sent several truths throughout my whole body:

“YOU ARE THE ONE WE PRAYED FOR!”

“THIS IS OUR LIFETIME OF PLEASURE AND FULFILMENT!”

“YOU ARE THE CURSE BREAKER!”

“LIFE LOVES TO EXPERIENCE ITSELF THROUGH YOU!”

I left Costa Rica with a certainty like no other. Certainty of my path, of my power, and of my purpose. It is my absolute pleasure to welcome you to my space of knowledge and refuge. May my teachings and life experiences inspire you to dive deep into all that life has to offer.

The next time I was in Costa Rica, I hosted a spiritual retreat in Guanacaste, where I could feel my ancestors’ presence move through me as I cultivated sacred space for all the beautiful people who came.

The time after that, I was invited to a 2-week work exchange at The Brown Girl Yoga Sanctuary in Sarapiquí, Costa Rica, where I hosted a workshop on Building an Ancestral Altar. It is always a LOVELY experience building altars and sharing esoteric knowledge as altars are a literal bridge of communication. People feel immediate resonance when they come in eyesight or connection with them.

I am overly joyous about the way my ancestors speak through me. Channeling is one of my favorite abilities and I am so grateful to feel my team alongside me.

As a child, I always felt watched and like I was not alone. I now know that is true. I am watched in truth, I am held in love.
